Verizon Internet Security Suite Powered by McAfee ® Exclude a folder You can exclude a folder from your custom or scheduled scan so McAfee doesn't check it for threats. McAfee VirusScan On-Access Default Processes Policies must be configured to not exclude any files from being scanned unless exclusions have been documented with, and approved by, the ISSO/ISSM/DAA. When scanning for malware, excluding specific files will increase the risk of a malware-infected file going undetected. Aug 31, 2016 In certain situations, you may need to define exceptions in McAfee, so that McAfee will ignore certain files and folders. Click Start, Programs, McAfee, VirusScan Console. Right-click On-Access Scanner and select Properties. Click All Processes, Detection, Exclusions. Specify what items to exclude from scanning and click.

I want to exclude a set of folders from McAfee, as I have done with every other antivirus software I've used, but it seems that you can only exclude individual files and not entire folders. Does anyone know of a way to exclude folders? My Google searches only show results for VirusScan Enterprise, which I don't have.
